To the followers regarding the cancellation of the public mass in the Nara block

+ Lord's peace
Due to the spread of the new coronavirus infection in Nara Prefecture, we decided to cancel the public mass in the Nara block according to the policy of the Kyoto parish. We have been conducting a public mass for about one month, but the safety of the participants is our top priority. I'm really sorry, but please understand.
Although it may seem urgent to stop the public mass without a declaration of emergency being issued, it is necessary for society to take measures to prevent infection while operating the economy. However, the church values values that prioritize "preserving life." In the current situation where there are still many unknown parts about the new coronavirus, in order to avoid the risk of infection, we have no choice but to limit the mass service that involves gathering and distributing the Eucharist. We ask for your understanding and cooperation in order to protect our lives.
In the future, I think that various things such as the mechanism of infection of the new coronavirus will be elucidated. Development of vaccines and therapeutic agents is also underway. Please wait in prayer as we will resume public mass when the number of new infections decreases and you can safely carry out mass.
The priest always thinks of the people in the block and devotes the mass. We pray for your health and well-being.
